We are currently seeking a skilled and commercially minded professional to join a high-profile public sector organisation in a role managing procurement and contract activity. This position is ideal for someone with experience in public sector procurement, supplier management and contract negotiation, who is looking to work in a hybrid environment while contributing to complex, high-value commercial operations.
Job Title: Procurement Officer
Location: Oxfordshire (Hybrid - 60% office-based)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum plus bonuses
Working Hours: 37.5 per week
This role involves supporting and managing end-to-end procurement processes, providing commercial advice, and ensuring value for money across the Operations category. You will play a pivotal role in improving commercial policies, monitoring contract performance, and ensuring compliance with legislation and organisational standards.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Oversee the lifecycle of procurement and contracts, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
* Provide commercial advice to internal stakeholders.
* Manage supplier relationships and monitor contract performance.
* Support the development and implementation of robust commercial strategies.
* Lead contract negotiations and support sourcing initiatives.
* Analyse and report on commercial and financial data to support decision-making.
* Assist in improving procurement policies, procedures, and practices.
What we are looking for:
* Degree (2:2+) in Supply Chain, Commercial Operations, Business, or equivalent experience/qualification.
* Working towards MCIPS or interest in studying towards qualification.
* Understanding of public sector procurement and Cabinet Office rules.
* Supplier management experience.
* Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Financial understanding including budgeting and cost control.
* Experience in contract negotiation and knowledge of procurement legislation.
* Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities effectively.
