A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join a highly regarded professional services organisation in Leeds, working within a specialist Housing Management and Property Litigation team.
This role would be particularly well suited to a recent Law graduate or graduate with 6-12 months' relevant experience who is looking to develop a long-term career within the legal sector. Previous housing or property litigation experience would be advantageous but is not essential. As would working for the CAB.
Salary is £26,228 plus a billings based bonus
The Role
Working alongside experienced Solicitors and other legal professionals, you will provide support across a varied caseload while developing your own knowledge and experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Supporting Solicitors with the day-to-day management of files
* Preparing claim forms, pleadings and witness statements
* Managing deadlines across multiple cases
* Preparing trial bundles and court documentation
* Liaising with Courts and external parties to ensure paperwork is completed
* Assisting fee earners and Barristers ahead of hearings
* Conducting legal research and assisting with client enquiries
* Maintaining accurate electronic and paper files
* Attending Court when required
* Conducting advocacy on routine County Court matters as experience develops
* Providing a professional and responsive service to clients
About You
The ideal candidate will be:
* Degree educated with a minimum 2:2 or equivalent, ideally in Law, Politics, International Relations, History, English Literature, Philosophy or Economics
* A recent graduate or have around 6-12 months' relevant experience
* Confident undertaking research and producing accurate written work
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
* Comfortable managing multiple deadlines and priorities
* Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
* A clear and professional communicator
* Methodical, proactive and able to work independently
* A strong team player with a genuine interest in developing a career within the legal sector
LPC/SQE1 study or completion would be advantageous but is not essential.
