We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join their Place Team on a temporary basis for approximately 3 months. This is a great opportunity for a qualified lawyer to deliver high-quality legal advice and representation within a busy, supportive local authority legal service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Handling civil litigation, including appeals under the Housing Act 2004 in the First-Tier Tribunal, with associated advocacy
* Providing high-quality legal advice, assistance and representation to the Council across relevant areas of law
* Advising on the interpretation and application of council policies, procedures and governance requirements
* Complying with quality assurance procedures, service level agreements and performance management requirements
* Contributing to a culture of learning, knowledge sharing and excellence within Legal Services
* Liaising with stakeholders in a way that promotes the Council's values and behaviours
Skills & Experience Required:
* Qualified barrister, solicitor, or experienced Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with a full, valid practising certificate
* Proven experience in civil litigation, including Housing Act 2004 appeals and First-Tier Tribunal advocacy
* Licensing experience desirable but not essential
* Ability to draft without supervision and manage a caseload with an appropriate level of autonomy
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to explain complex legal arguments clearly
* Strong understanding of relevant law, with the ability to keep up to date with legislative changes
* Comfortable working independently while contributing positively to a wider team
