Commercial Assistant - Entry Level
Spalding | £26,000-£32,000 | Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
Start your commercial career. Build towards Account Management.
Are you a recent graduate or an ambitious individual at the start of your career, looking for an opportunity to develop your commercial skills and build a future in business?
We're working with an established and growing FMCG business in Spalding that is looking for a bright, commercially minded individual to join its commercial team.
This is more than an entry-level support role. It's an opportunity to learn how a business operates, develop an understanding of customer relationships and commercial performance, and work towards a future career in Account Management.
You don't need previous FMCG experience. We're interested in your potential, your curiosity and your willingness to learn. You might be a recent business graduate ready to put your knowledge into practice, or someone with some initial experience looking for a role offering genuine scope to develop.
What will you be doing?
Working alongside an experienced commercial team, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting customer accounts and coordinating the activities that help a business deliver for its customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
*
Supporting Account Managers with the day-to-day management of customer accounts and relationships.
*
Coordinating customer orders and maintaining accurate information across internal systems.
*
Liaising with colleagues across commercial, planning and operational teams to help ensure customer requirements are met.
*
Monitoring order progress, checking product availability and helping resolve any issues that arise.
*
Preparing reports, updating spreadsheets and supporting the team with commercial information.
*
Assisting with customer promotions, product launches and changing requirements.
*
Developing an understanding of customer needs, sales performance and the wider supply chain.
*
Identifying opportunities to improve processes, solve problems and help the team work more effectively.
As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility, develop your customer-facing skills and build the commercial understanding needed to progress towards an Account Manager position.
What are we looking for?
Above all, we're looking for potential.
You'll be curious about how businesses work, enjoy building relationships and take pride in doing things well.
You'll ideally bring:
*
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
*
Confident written and verbal communication skills.
*
Good numerical and analytical ability.
*
Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, or a willingness to develop your skills.
*
A proactive mindset and the confidence to ask questions, learn quickly and take ownership of tasks.
*
The ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with others.
*
An interest in developing a career in commercial or account management.
*
A full driving licence and access to your own transport are essential due to the location of the business.
A degree in Business, Business Management, Marketing, Economics or a related subject would be welcomed, but it isn't essential. Relevant experience in customer service, administration, retail or sales support would also be valuable.
Previous FMCG experience is not required, and full support will be provided as you learn.
What's on offer?
*
Salary of £26,000-£32,000, depending on experience and suitability.
*
Monday to Friday working, with core hours of 8am-4pm.
*
25 days' annual leave.
*
Company pension scheme.
*
Hands-on training and support from an experienced commercial team.
*
Exposure to customer accounts, commercial operations and supply chain.
*
A development opportunity, with the potential to progress towards Account Manager as your skills and experience grow.
Ready to take the next step?
If you're bright, commercially curious and keen to build a career where you can learn, contribute and progress, we'd love to hear from you.
You don't need to have everything figured out already. We're interested in what you can bring today and what you could achieve in the future.
