Preparing for interviews as a temporary worker comes with its own set of considerations and often employers will want to see your ability to adapt and how you perform against your responsibilities within a short period of time. 1. Why are you interested in temporary work? 

Tip: Highlight your flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm for taking on diverse work assignments. You could also emphasise how temporary work aligns with your career goals or offers you a chance to gain more work experience whilst exploring various industries and roles. 

2. Tell us about your previous assignments. 

Tip: Discuss your accomplishments, the skills you’ve gained, and how you have contributed to the success of each assignment. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to highlight your ability to quickly integrate into new teams and thrive in different working environments. 

3. How do you handle change and new challenges? 

Tip: Showcase your adaptability and comfort with change. Although this is a hard question to, you should use this question to provide a variety of examples of situations where you have successfully adapted to new challenges. 

4. What skills have you learned from temporary working? 

Tip: Highlight your transferable/ soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, time management, and teamwork. You could discuss how these skills have allowed you to excel in various temporary assignments and where your strengths lie.  

5. How do you approach learning new systems or processes quickly? 

Tip: As a temporary worker you will be used to quickly grasping new work processes so you should provide examples of times where you efficiently learned new software, tools, or procedures during your temporary assignments. 

6. Describe a situation where you had to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Tip: Share a specific example that demonstrates your ability to work manage priorities and deliver results efficiently. As a temporary worker you will be used to having shorter time frames to complete your responsibilities, however, if you have worked in Customer Service or another fast-paced role this will show your ability to perform under pressure. 

7. What strategies do you use to hit the ground running in a new assignment? 

Tip: Discuss your proactive approach to gathering information, building relationships, and understanding the company's goals and expectations from the outset of an assignment. 

8. What do you find challenging about temporary work, and how do you overcome it? 

Tip: In every assignment you will be adjusting to different company cultures and handling varying workloads, this is your opportunity to showcase this. Explain how your adaptability and problem-solving skills help you to overcome these challenges. 

9. Where do you see yourself in your future career? 

Tip: Discuss your long-term goals and how temporary work aligns with your current and longer-term career path. If you're open to different opportunities, you could mention that your experiences in temporary roles will help you decide what career path is for you. 

11. Why should we hire you? 

Tip: Tailor your response to the specific requirements of the role, this will demonstrate your attention to detail and that you are interested in what the opportunity offers you. You could highlight your relevant skills, experiences, and enthusiasm for contributing to the success of the assignment.
