Handling Workplace Investigations – a ‘how to’ Guide
Huntress Hammersmith is pleased to invite you to our complimentary seminar on ‘Handling Workplace Investigations – a ‘how to’ Guide’, taking place on Wednesday 7th November in conjunction with employment law specialists Burges Salmon LLP.
If you work in HR, then having a good understanding of disciplinary procedures is key to your role. Whilst resolving issues informally is, when possible, the best approach, in some cases, formal procedures need to be followed.
In such cases, carrying out a fair investigation to establish what has happened will be a crucial stage in the disciplinary / grievance procedure. However, this is not always a straightforward process as investigating officers can be unclear on what it is they are trying to achieve. This seminar offers a step by step guide to carrying out a workplace investigation. We set the scene by considering how the fairness or otherwise of an investigation fits within the unfair dismissal framework and then move on to consider the practicalities of handling the investigation itself.
Key areas covered will include:
- How an issue should be investigated
- Who should investigate
- How to identify and interview witnesses
- What should go into the investigation report Identifying and managing potential crossovers between the investigation process and the disciplinary hearing
